Mahabharata Musings - Part 2

So, couple of weeks ago, my 11 year old got an invite to a Birthday Party. For the uninitiated - Kids Birthday party invites are usually Whatsapp Groups created for the event. Invitees RSVP on the poll button in the group for the host to get a count.  So, it was a usual weekday morning when the first chance I get to check my phone is when we get into the elevator to drop the kid to the pick up spot. I opened this group and saw couple of messages from mothers I don't know. One such mother had replied - "Dron will be coming late to the party". I re read the message and asked my kid - "Is there a kid called "Dron" in the society?" He replied that he is Birthday Boy's friend but not from the society. I thought for a moment about the choice of the name "Dron". Mahabharata and Bollywood Musings with my Brat

They say - Mahabharata and Ramayana are not mythologies - but they are our History.  Now I am not an expert on that - But what I do know is - Mahabharata as an epic has left a deep impact on me. I discovered it much later in life  - in my twenties. But I had decided then that I want to introduce Mahabharata to my child early on. I want him to get intrigued, discover, and research on his own when he is young. Because the pearls of wisdom act as guiding light during our formative years.  When he turned 9, we picked up Mahabharata series from "Amar Chitra Katha" as I thought then that now he was ready for it - anytime earlier would have confused him with so many characters.  He got hooked to the book and began finding it extremely interesting. He would look forward to 9:00 PM reading sessions every night. He would quickly finish his bedtime rituals, hop on to the bed and start calling out to me.                                                   When I decided to restart writing after more than a decade, I was unable to come up with a post that would be my Opening Batsman!  Until couple of days ago - during my torturous drive to work (Thank God for 2 days Work from Office. I really wonder how Bengalureans managed life before Covid. It almost feels like it was during another lifetime) I came across this talk by Dushyant Sridhar  and My oh My! Was I impressed by this guy and his narration! He combines humor with spirituality to keep the listeners hooked throughout.   I instantly knew who my opener for my writing come back is, but did I want to continue writing in my previous blog?
